Profits rise for National Grid

National Grid, the operator of the UKÔÇÖs power and gas networks, has reported a 12 per cent rise in annual profits to ┬ú2.2 billion.

The company has also said it plans to raise £3.2 billion pounds in a rights issue to boost its credit rating and fund increased investment, which it has said will be in the region of £22 billion over the next five years.
